Vice President Legal, General Counsel and Secretary

Phil Carino joined Swagelok Company as its general counsel in 2016 and was named vice president legal, general counsel and secretary in 2020. As a member of the executive team, he works within the business to manage risk-reward, help people accomplish their goals, and make the best decisions for the long-term success of the company.

He began his legal career with a large corporate law firm in Cleveland, focusing on antitrust law and business litigation and ultimately becoming a partner. In 2000, Phil joined General Electric and spent 16 years in various legal roles, including as general counsel of GE Power’s distributed power business and strategic marketing organization.

Phil is a strong supporter of Northeast Ohio. He serves on the boards of the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, which helps clients with holistic hearing, speech-language, and deaf services, and Vocational Guidance Services, whose mission is to create pathways for individuals with disabilities to engage in the community, achieve greater independence, and attain employment. He is also a member of the development committee for the Conservancy of Cuyahoga Valley National Park and serves as a volunteer attorney for The Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.

Phil earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and economics from Alma College and a Juris Doctor degree from Cornell Law School.
